Tim Shininger is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). He received his Master of Guidance and Counseling from Bowling Green State University in Ohio in 1993. He completed post-graduate studies in marriage and family therapy at the Family Therapy Training Institute of Milwaukee in 1995. He is the Clinic Director and Owner of Comprehensive Counseling Services.
In addition to his clinical experience, Mr. Shininger has several years of administrative experience. Prior to operating Comprehensive Counseling Services, Tim served as Director of Outpatient Clinical Services at Ascension-Columbia St. Mary’s. He is a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage & Family Therapy and the Catholic Psychotherapy Association. He also serves as a counselor for seminarians discerning the priesthood at St. Francis de Sales Seminary in Milwaukee.
Mr. Shininger provides treatment for adolescents and adults with a focus on marriage and family issues. He also specializes in treating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and obsessive compulsive disorder as well as helping individuals with parenting issues, grief/loss, and marital communication/conflict. Tim uses cognitive behavioral, Internal Family Systems, and systemic approaches in treatment. He has a special interest in studying the integration of principles of the Christian faith and the science of psychology.
